We all have a common interest in social media and in Cleveland and we all love brainstorming ways to bring the two closer together. However, despite all the networking and fun-times I’ve yet to meet anyone from a real brand or company in Cleveland. OK – well, I’ve met a few but they are few and far between. It’s not like I’m looking for opportunities to sell either, trust me, I’m doing fine there. But I would like the opportunity to learn. Learn from your business, learn what is going well and what could be better. This club is meant to be a hub and resource for local marketing folks. It’s meant to champion a marketing channel that we all know is going to become a significant focus for most brands in the next 2-5 years. Social Media is gonna be here for awhile – so why aren’t we doing more as a group to connect the dots in Cleveland?

I will say that there are people that are pushing hard in Cleveland to champion social media. We all know who these people are and most of us work at agencies or firms in town. So maybe it is upon us to lower the barrier to entry to join our group and hang-out more often?

Either way I’d like to see more Cleveland companies coming to these events. If you are curious what they are like more often than not they are really laid-back. Usually involving good food, good beer and wine and intelligent people. We don’t just sit around and tweet – we actually mingle and interact like real people, lol. So I’m issuing a challenge to Cleveland companies.

And I have been all over the country attending trade shows, seminars and workshops. From Hawaii to Seattle and Georgia, Cincinnati, New York and Chicago; I’d say that Cleveland ranks right there at the top.  We have some really passionate social media advocates in the land.

The Cleveland Social Media Club (SMC) has a very active group and meets at least once a month to bring everyone together.  They even wrote a book on social media that can be downloaded.

We also have some really savvy agencies in town. I happen to work for the best. :D

We’ve also produced some great social media content on blogs like Social Media Blogger Guy, Tech Czar and View From W6th. Speaking of blogs, Cleveland has a robust blogging scene. We boast a wide array of blogs focusing on topics as niche as being a Chef’s Widow, being a Cleveland Bachelor,  and of course Cleveland Nightlife.  For more on the Cleveland blogging scene check out this link.
