Recently I changed my personal blogging platform from WordPress to Blogger. After experimenting with both for about six-months I decided that Blogger was the best. Despite being limited regarding front-end design elements Blogger has emerged as the fastest, easiest, simplest blogging platform to use.
I evaluated the two popular blogging platforms on several criteria including design elements, ease of posting, mobile applications, 3rd party integrations and overall ease of use.
To begin the evaluation I signed up for both services. Each of them is free to use and they both have a very straightforward sign-up process. My first blog was created using Blogger. I already owned (and still do) the domain name MobileCommerce Times.com so this became the first Blog launched. I started out writing a few posts and played around with the layout a little. Blogger does not have a large quantity of templates to choose from so I selected the cleanest, most easy to read template. It is the same template I am using for the Blog you are reading currently. I filled up the MCT blog with about a dozen or posts and took a little time to configure my additional page elements. This is when I realized that Blogger was probably going to be my choice. Despite being an Internet junkie and technology enthusiast I am by no means a coder. I hardly no any HTML, so you can imagine how impressed I was when suddenly I was able to add page elements like Video, Banner Ads, RSS and other Web 2.0 elements to my Blog with ease. I attribute this user-friendliness to the fact that Blogger is a Google application, Google has a knack for making the Internet easy to use. Before I knew it I had set-up my Blog, configured my custom domain and was pretty much done. I was impressed at how quickly I was up and running – the total time invested was under an hour.
Tomorrow I will cover the other popular Blogging platform WordPress.
